PREVENTATIVE TREATMENTS

FLUORIDE TREATMENTS

Fluoride is a natural mineral that helps build strong teeth, prevents cavities, and can be used to prevent tooth decay in certain age groups. It has been used in dental care for decades.

According to large studies, fluoride is beneficial for both children and adults. Children and adolescents who receive fluoride treatments are less likely to have tooth decay and cavities.

DENTAL SEALANTS

Dental sealants are a protective coating applied to the chewing surfaces of your teeth to prevent tooth decay. There is definitely no alternative to everyday dental hygiene (brushing and flossing), but they can help prevent cavities from forming.

Both children and adults can benefit from dental sealants, but the earlier it is applied, the better. Sealing your teeth at a young age can keep them cavity-free from the start, and can help you save money on dental procedures in the long run.

DEEP CLEANINGS

Deep cleaning is a procedure performed by our dental hygienists. They are recommended when a patient shows signs of gum and periodontal disease. Periodontal disease begins to develop when a patient does not visit the dentist for regular checkups & cleanings, as well as poor brushing and flossing habits.

COMPLETE EXAM & CHECKUP

Even if you have good oral hygiene habits and a healthy mouth, our dental professionals suggest professional teeth cleaning at least twice a year. According to the Canadian Dental Association, “7 out of 10 Canadians will develop gum disease at some time in their lives.”  It is a very common dental problem, and it can go unseen until the pain starts to develop.

Dental cleanings also reveal early signs of problems that are much more serious than plaque. During cleaning or an exam, our professionals are trained to spot signs of oral cancer, new cavities, receding gums, and other problems. Since gum disease is linked to cardiovascular disease, catching it as early as possible can even lower your risk of developing other medical diseases.
